Many Color Possibilities
I think you are really going to enjoy the process of making this pattern.
Have fun choosing your colors for the rainbow section and keep in mind it doesn’t have to be a rainbow. It can be whatever colors your heart desires.
The “rainbow” section of this crochet cardigan consists of 8 stripes of color. I used 6 colors for my rainbow. I doubled the first and last color. You could make all 8 stripes a different color if you’d like.
You can also make the stripe just a few colors. This cardigan would look great in just two colors representing your favorite team or the colors of your favorite school. I went to Syracuse University so I would make my cardigan navy with an orange stripe. Wouldn’t that look awesome?!
I love it, and after trying it I want to make more of your patterns because it is well explained and looks great.

Meditative Stitch Pattern
I spent a long time deciding on the perfect stitch for the main body of the Rainbow In My Pocket cardigan. I knew I wanted to make the rainbow section with V-stitches because I love V-stitch stripes. But I wasn’t sure about the rest of the cardigan at first.
After much experimentation I landed on this great V-stich and double crochet combo. It’s perfect because it’s a nice light stitch. It doesn’t weigh down this long cardigan. And it’s fun.
This cardigan is on the long side so I knew I had to make sure the stitch is interesting and fun. I don’t want you getting bored while making and giving up on a pattern.
This crochet cardigan pattern will hold your interest. It’s nice to switch between the two types of stitches. You will be surprised how fast this cardigan is to make.
Crochet Cardigan Pattern Ribbing
Another really cool feature of this crochet cardigan pattern is the way the ribbing is created. You will NOT stitch the ribbing on at the end. It is stitched little by little at the end of each row.
It’s a LOT easier and a LOT faster than traditional ways of stitching ribbing. I think you are going to LOVE it!
I’m always looking for patterns that will teach me something. When I saw your description of the pattern talking about a different way to add trim, it convinced me to offer to test. I also think it will be a great transitional cardi.

The base stitches were really meditative and it was really easy to just work on it without too much thought until the key sections/changes. The rainbow was super fun, and it was great to see each colour come to life then top it off with the adorable pocket. The ribbing built into the construction was really innovative.
